Gourmet Club-Hawaiian

OK--so a few friends and I have been doing a "Gourmet Club" we picked lots of different themes we would like to try. Then we decide on one--everyone brings dishes for the theme--this one was Hawaiian. I have to tell you--Lauryn told me "Mom--I don't want pressure you or anything--but I am expecting big things from you--we are Hawaiian--you are going to have to come through on this"--yeah--NO pressure!!!!!! Anyway here's what I made--Huli-Huli Chicken served over rice, Manapua and Hawaiian Pork Hash. Huli Huli chicken is marinated overnight then cooked slowly--my Mom has made this for us when we visit. Manapua is a pork filled bun--the pork has a sauce on it. Hawaiian Pork Hash is a steamed dumpling-type thing with a pork filling. The first time I had these my Great Auntie Rita brought them from the Big Island. They were in a bakery box that she carried on the plane with her. These are SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!! We love all of these--and they really aren't that hard to make.

Girl's Sleepover

Sleepover--at our house that is a misnomer--there is no sleep or least very little sleep involved. We took the girls to dinner. Looking at the pictures you can tell that Yates was dressed--tortured--again, this time he was wearing Build-A-Bear clothes.

The Toad

Ok--my kids are terrible about opening the garage door and LEAVING it open for the whole day. On one of those days we found this huge toad in the garage. So-we captured and released him at the neighbors little pond.

Sailing

L&L decided they wanted to build boats. Now, I don't know if you know this or not--but most ideas that rattle around in the heads of these two do not always translate well into reality. So, as you can see from these pictures they went with TALL boats, added flags and attachments. We went to the park to sail their vessels, upon launch the boats immediately capsized. The Captains then made revisions to their ships and re-launched without any extra height they were able to sail down stream quite well.

Lauryn returns

On Friday Lauryn returned from Outdoor Ed--now we all know she isn't really an outdoorsy, nature kind of girl, what with the bugs and the dirt--who could blame her. Guess she gets that honest--since those are exactly the reasons that I am not all that outdoorsy!!! She learned some new songs and lots of other stuff. Here she is bonding with Yates--I'm not sure who missed who more!!! If you look at the bags under Lauryn's eyes you can tell there wasn't much sleep involved in Outdoor ED.

Logan rolls on!!

Logan went to a b-day party at the skating rink. He had a blast. Here are some shots of him rollin'--the last shot is yet another picture of THE HAIR!!!!!!! We are thinking shorter for summer, of course that "we" doesn't include Logan!!!!!!

Golf Anyone????

Uncle Chris was home last weekend and one of the things he wanted to do was go golfing. Lauryn being the little fashionista wanted us all to dress in plaid. It is hard to believe that L&L are big enough to use regular clubs--they no longer need "baby ones"--where has the time gone???
